I recently purchased a couple of sports coats branded "Alfred Dunhill." I read somewhere (probably here) that its English-made suits are fully canvased. But my sports coats are labeled "Made in Japan." Are they canvased as well or are they fused?

I've never had the opportunity to see the Made In Japan ones up close but I have not heard good things about them. I recently sold a Made In Italy one and it was a very, very nice sportcoat. Canvassed front, great cut and beautiful details. You might want to return the Japan ones and search out the Made in Italy ones.

I bought them for about $310 each. They have great patterns, and are fairly light (meant for summer). I don't know about construction though. I don't have the requisite expertise to judge how good the quality is.

Does anyone have an explanation of why the Japanese-made Alfred Dunhill are not good?
