Aldens Ever on Sale?

Do Aldens ever go on sale anytime, anywhere? I've bought Allen-Edmonds factory seconds at the "Shoe Bank" in Port Washington, Wisconsin (great facility), and I've picked up some very cool AEs at Ebay (both new and gently used). But Aldens -- the only size 12s I ever see on Ebay are in very non-medium widths, and many Internet searches have failed to turn up any Aldens on sale, even in the post-holidays period. I'm not adverse to paying full price for the burnished tan tassel moccasins I want, but I wonder if there are any tricks I'm missing here.

Yes, but rarely. ShoeMart periodically has sales and also sells seconds:

Beyond that, it's hit or miss. A Neiman-Marcus in Dallas used to carry Aldens, so there may be a NM near you whose buyer carries them. Also 2 menswear stores near me discount Aldens by 5% the week before Thanksgiving. You'll probably need to scout around extensively.

Sherman Brothers in Philly doscounts 10% twice a year. If you are a regular customer, they'll give you 10% year around.

The Shoemart also has semi-annual sale with 10% off, including the seconds.

Alden of Carmel occasionally has sale on some discontinued models, about 10% off. You know a company is doing something right when they can sell its products without steep discounts.

Agreed. I'll probably just pop for full price or close to it, but I love the thrill of the chase.

Try Stapleton Shoe Company @ 68 Trinity Place in NYC 212 964-6329. They have limited styles in stock but will order from Alden for you. They typically discount 15% across the board.....calfskin and shell cordovans, all first quality. They also have a second store around the corner.

Shoemart in Norwalk, CT has semi-annual sales at about 10% off and also carries an odd stock of Alden factory seconds (beware some are minor and not discernable, others are disfigured) at about 40% off list.

The Alden Shop at 344 Madison Avenue 212 687-3023 has a promotion now and then at about 10-15% off list. This store carries quite a few make up styles in cigar and whiskey cordovans. You should call and ask if they will extend a discount.

Finally, some of the Brooks Brothers shoes are made by Alden - you know which ones because they look identical to Aldens even though they have the BB label - and they go on sale now and then.

This particular shop was offering a 20% discount in December and early January. I am not sure about the situation now though

I just saw some nice Aldens derbys at Nordstrom's Off the Rack shop in size 10.5/ 11 for $129.00 which were retail $339 retail.

Which Nordstrom's Rack? And what color were they?

Brooks has those 25% off sales a few times/year...that's probably the deepest discounts on Alden made shoes I've seen

Sky Valet still has them on sale, I believe. I'm not sure if the SF discount stacks, but you can call them and ask.

25% off never applies to cordovan tho.
