Remember, I havent heard from Kathy yet. I have spoke to Joe and Chey? is that how you spell it? And they thought those were our best possibilities. Yes, Ravello is basically gone for a long while.

Doesn't make a lot of sense considering they already have a boot like this at Alden DC on the Grant last. We should try and put something together that we can't get our hands on in the regular course.

Alden DC = the store in Chinatown (DC)? If I haven't tried on any of the lasts, should I just head over to the store to try them out?

I'm definitely interested in going in on a makeup similar to this (wingtip would be great too):

I'm in total agreement. I have enough shoes on the Barrie. Based on what others have posted and what I have heard from Joe and Chey it seems that the Grant last is a very good choice to go with for them. I'm not sure about the Plaza's "do-ability", though I would be fine with it as a design choice.

    Cigar
    Medallion perf cap toe
    All eyelets
    Double leather sole (any style)
    Antique edge
    I don't have a last preference

Yes, there are similar boots available now, but most seem to be plain cap toe and commando sole.

I actually spoke to Kathy a few weeks ago about doing a:

    Cigar
    plain toe boot
    on the barrie last
    w/ antique edgetrim
    and all eyelets

...and she seemed very open to the idea.

That would be my preference. Maybe on a double waterlock or commando sole.

Also, just to add, possibly whiskey instead of cigar would be nice. Never seen a whiskey plain toe boot, and Kathy did do the whiskey indy last go-around. So maybe she can come by some whiskey again.

Remember how nice these Leather Soul make-ups were?

    Thanks!

If #4 is possible, it would seem like the obvious choice to me since it's not as readily available in the standard make-ups as cigar seems to be.

Yeah - I'm sick of the damn Barrie. It fits horribly for most, I wish most cool makeups were not on the Barrie - perhaps a new default last should be chosen :)

What do you mean by the "do-ability" - would certain patterns not work on that last? I was under the impression that you could apply just about any old pattern to a specific last. I've seen some really cool Plaza based makeups via Leather Soul, ranging from an "Indy Boot" to slip ons! I'm biased though, I'm totally in love with that more chiseled look.

I like the look of the Plaza generally but I think it just looks wrong for an Indy, the curve of the stitiching against the chisel toe seems odd to me. I realise I may be alone on this.

I understand your annoyance with the ubiquitous Barrie, although I quite like it myself and it fits me just fine.

If we're getting our preferences in, I would be happy with any shell especially #4. Commando sole preferable but leather OK, crepe a deal-breaker. Any last OK although I would rather not Trubalance (but I don't think we're going there anyway). I probably wouldn't go in with an Indy but any other design would be fine.
