What is the current state of affairs with modified-last GMTOs (in the USA, via Moulded Shoe or others)? I am a recent convert to the modified last, and am envisioning a light-colored workboot pattern or snuff suede chukka on rubber sole. Inventory on TSM / Moulded Shoe is slim, particularly for my size (narrow 10.5). Thanks for any input.

I am no help but have same question; recently got my first pair of Alden modified lasts and has given me comfort that has alluded me my entire adult life. I have another coming in this week (I hope) and would buy others if available. Molded Shoe NY has been a huge help and I am checking their web site. I prefer the shoes with added depth for my orthotics but will consider others if they come available.

Thanks for the response. May I ask what type of foot you have? Mine are narrow with flat arches, and I just got fitted with custom orthotics and am awaiting the product to see how well they sit in my Barrie-lasted boots (10.5C). Meanwhile, I find modified-last shoes to support my feet in a way that seems to outperform at least the standard-issue 1/4 length arch support inserts. So I'm playing to waiting game to see if the customs work well, or if I should just commit to buying more modified boots (or both).

On Feb 21, 2018, Sudonihm tried to get together a MTO with Moulded Shoe on this thread. I think it died out because he couldn't line up enough people. You should certainly talk to Ron or Raphael, its kind of a cult.

I also am a narrow in ML, take a 9.5 B in rubber sole, remove the insert and put in a custom orthotic. By the way, the guy that made the orthotic then trimmed it to fit the Modified Last. It still fits fine in Truebalance and Military Last.

Regarding flat feet and ML, it appears to be a controversial issue, because they make high arched people happy. Obviously if they work for you, its great. For a little discussion of this and views of some podiatrists, see the special feature on Moulded Shoe at:

Recently found these beauties on eBay, model 564. Never seen brown kidskin before, but I love it. Such a shame they're slightly too large.

What a shame! Seeing something close to your size on eBay is rare let alone something thats not asking $1200.

The new pain toe shell boots from moulded might find their way into my shrinking rotation once I offload some other stuff. Modified is just too good.

I'm thinking of parting with a pair of Anatomica moc toe bluchers on the modified last. Still on the fence about it so it's more of an interest check but they're not seeing any wear at the moment and I figure someone here might just be in the market for something similar

Alden for Anatomica
5610 Moc toe
Black shell cordovan
Modified last
11 B/D (I'm a fairly standard 11D and these fit me very well)
Worn about 10 times

Those look great! Unfortunately too large for me.
In fact, I am also offloading a pair that is large for me. Snuff Suede Indy Boots in 10.5D (ebay link). I was sized as 10.5C at Moulded Shoe, and thought these would work (with the included custom Alden inserts) but they're just a bit too roomy. In fact, I acquired a pair in 11AA and they fit much better despite being a bit snug around the midfoot! I'll post a picture soon, as I believe the modified last in a skinny fit looks very sexy.

I know what you mean. I was fitted as a B width by Sam at Moulded and the shoes look great. Usually I wear a D. Now I have three pairs of B width ML shoes, so it looks like the correct sizing. ML should fit snug, taking advantage of all the space it gives you in the instep. A close fitting shoe is never cloddy looking.

These came in the mail yesterday. Took a chance on a rare size 8EEE on eBay, and they fit perfectly. Couldn't be happier. They're a bit worn and scuffed, but still a lovely pair of shoes which will surely see a lot of use, if it weren't for quarantine.

Not much engagement here in several months. As a person who after 2 years of trying to find shoes that fit just learned from one visit to Moulded Shoe that the Modified is "made for people with feet like yours", what are some styles on the Modified last that do not look too orthopedic?

They look a whole lot better in person than they do on the web. The boots are quite sleek, if you are into boots. I am surprised you went to Moulded Shoe and still feel they are ugly, The boots look better than Barrie, I think.

Regarding shoes, I only have experience with the rubber sole numbers that have room for an orthotic, so these are the ones that should really look dorky, but they don't. The leather soled ones are obviously nicer looking.

At any rate, I have a moc toe snuff suede and a nubuck tan one in the rubber soles. I get a lot of complements for both, although nubuck is a little difficult to keep clean. I highly recommend snuff suede for shoes. They look good.
