Alden Modified Last: If You Wear, or are Interested, Please Read

UPS just delivered the Indy natty CXL boots on the Modified last.





Notice the laces are different on each foot. I got these from Moulded Shoe and they were nice enough to include an extra pair of different laces. I think the laces on the right boot are the "usual" laces shipped with Indys but I think I actually like the narrower waxed laces on the left boot. The wider, darker laces on the right boot seem too "in your face" and distract the eyes from the boot, while the narrower laces on the left boot are more subtle and allow the boot to show itself more. At least, IMHO.

These boots just confirm that the Modified last is really my favorite last, at least from a fit and comfort standpoint. They are such a good fit and so comfortable out of the box. I'm excited to wear them but I promised my wife I'd wait till my birthday.

I'm still interested as well. Actually won't mind waiting for these as I seem to have gone on something of a boot binge recently. These will definitely be different, and useful. Particularly if we can get them on something other than a leather sole.

Moulded will do it. We can get the neo-cork sole no problem. Alden may or may not do a commando. We won't know until the order is ready to go in. The problem is weak interest.

The Modified really suits saddles. This offering from Silver & Gold have a fantastic shape. Interesting too that they have a close heel and storm welt.

that's the first non-derby modified last shoe I've ever seen. The storm welt combined with regular heel is interesting

I think that's a Barrie. They don't make a Balmoral Modified as far as I know.
