Thank you kindly, sir. I believe I cannot justify purchasing anything other than Modified or Trubalance lasted Aldens. I will be branching into Carmina I hope as well.
word, I'm trying the forest last from epaulet, just put the order in.

So, I dropped in at Moulded Shoe. The kind gentleman recommended TTS. I tried on a boot and a shoe. They both felt pretty good (this was my first experience with the Modified).

Just curious to know if you gentlemen go TTS or size down on the modified.

I sized down a half size for the Modified last and it fit well. I don't have the Barrie yet but the recommendation is to size down a half size in that as well.

Hmmm, this should be very interesting then. Moulded put me in TTS. I'm having the shoes delivered. This should be interesting.

Conventional wisdom is to size down 1/2. That's worked for me.

My first pair of Modified last was from Moulded. They were in shell and I wore them comfortably for years. I sold them after they got near the point of resoling. I then bought some suede ones in the same size and experienced pinky squeeze and had to sell them and buy new ones a half size up. I now wear this size comfortably. All this happened within a period of 5 years or so. FYI.

I guess what's important is that you actually went in and tried on the shoes and boots. And sm31 is right, they seem to know what they're doing, especially when it comes to the Modified last. So you should be fine. Let us know how it went.

That's not too surprising. Shell cordovan runs slightly larger than their calf/suede counterparts. Shell cannot be stretched as tightly around the last as calf skin. Hence, it fits just a bit looser. Hopefully that is what this was.

I picked up the black calf NST derby and the chocolate suede plain toe boot which were the best options available in my size. I had them shipped home to which actually saved me money vs. NY sales tax. Details to follow.

I now wear shell Modified last in a half size larger than my first pair from Moulded. My shoes sizes in other brands have not changed in the same period. Go figure.
