Just a thought. Even if we don't have a large number of people on board, perhaps it is worthwhile to express an interest to Moulded shoe now. I've noticed that tan suede is glaringly absent from their current stock and future pipeline. Maybe we should make our interest known?

Does anyone of our prospective MTOer's have connections at Moulded? Willing to speak with them on this?

Moulded may just put it on the future pipeline. I love the casualness of the crepe sole but leather works for me too.

I think it is probably more straight forward to take suede Modified last make-up to Moulded since they have done many before. I'd rather see this thread get traction with Alden for some special shells.

Yes.

Stopped in to Moulded Shoe on Saturday. The gentleman there was kind enough to let me try on a pair of their new suede wingtip boot (nice:slayer:) and it seems as if I should be a straight ahead 11D. Sigh of relief. No #8 cap toe boot, and apparently none anytime soon. I think I may have to pick up a pair of the scotch grain cap toes instead. Will give them a call to see what's available.

Edit: So I gave Moulded a call and I'm down for a pair of the scotch grain cap toe boots. Six to nine month wait. That's fine. I don't really need them right now anyway. Nominal deposit to reserve the pair. I also put my name down for the #8 modified boots should they ever get an order confirmed. Again, no pressing need, but I'll take a pair if I can get them.

FedEx just delivered my natural chromexcel plain toe boot in the modified last. My first pair of modified last boots. What a revelation! These are the most comfortable boots that I now own, and I'm sure they will get more comfortable as they break in. All the rumors and talk about the modified last being the most comfortable for many people certainly applies to me! I am sold on this last.

The question is...there is so much more availability of shell boots out there in say, the Barrie last. I don't have a Barrie last pair yet and am wondering if I should try them or just hold out till I see what I can get in the Modified last (say from Moulded Shoe). Tough decisions.

I generally prefer oxfords to derbies for that kind of shoe, but they simply aren't available on the Modified Last. :(

does the ptb come on the modified?
