Hello all,

I recently purchased a pair of Alden LHS in chromexcel at the DC store. They shipped them home to me so I could save on tax. Anyways I just got them yesterday and I am afraid they might be slightly too large after wearing them around the house. The main issue is the sides slightly flair out when I walk. There is a slight heel slip if I try but nothing major when I walk. The main concern is the flair out around the ankle. It’s not a lot but enough to notice. Didn’t know if this was normal for penny loafers or not. I’m just afraid once they break in I won’t be able to wear them anymore. I usually wear a 9.5 or 10 (D) and sizes down to 9 (D)
Thanks for any advice on fit.

This is probably too late to matter, but flaring out arou the ankle generally happens when the shoe is too narrow in the midfoot. Going down in size or width can make the problem worse.

Or was the flaring resolved with a smaller size or narrower width?
