What I think about this particular style of Alden is that the vamp seems to be longer than other chukkas. See the below link:

    http://blog.leffot.com/2008/11/19/th...-the-window-6/

May be to such that, if one does not care about the extra detail that the lace of chukka provides, he may opt to chelsea, because the vamp seems to be equally long.

Some people find that it wears cooler. Also, unlined shoes are usually lighter in weight. Plus, they are a bit more forgiving in fit since they will stretch a bit more than the lined counterparts (this also means that you can't buy them too big, so not really an advantage).

I personally don't wear unlined shoes.

DWFII in one of his posts criticized unlined shoes and makers who offer them. He had similar points to his argument for channeled soles in that there is little overhead or extra material needed to make higher end shoes lined.

That seems like criticizing someone for making a partially lined suit or sport coat. Most of Aldens shoes are lined, of course, but they are offering different options to the consumer. I don't see how that could be in any way considered 'bad'.

I really want a pair of these. The snuff ones shown on Leffot's site look great.

I just picked up a pair of snuff C&J Chilterns from the Ben Silver outlet. But the Alden look perfect for spring and summer. I, also, will have to wait.

i just hate the "just do a search" response. This site covers so many inane topics by its very nature, even if a topic has been discussed to death, why would it merit the effort of the "please do a search response.

Of course, there are many more important things to respond to, such as whether some guy from NY has divots on his shoulders.

Can I get an amen here?

    Rob

    STFU!

I agree. Besides the guy claims that are "countless" threads about my questions. So if he dares, I am waiting just for one single thread he may reference.

PS. "Countless" is defined as "too numerous to be counted" by Merriam Webster.

Here you go, since your too much of a genius to do the search yourself. The problem I have is that every newbie who sees a pic of PG wearing these has to jump on his cock and make a brand new thread about them and how they size etc. Its overkill.

Did you even read the OP's question ?? He asked a genuine question about construction, not sizing.

I tried today a pair in a shop to check what size I need, but the price here in Switzerland is about 580 USD for these
    [IMG]
Any suggestions where to find online on sale (are these ever on sale?), with shipping to Europe, the Alden unlined snuff or chocolate brown suede chukka?

580.00 US is insane for those boots. I have them and love them, but would not pay that price. YOu might want to see if Sherman Brothers ships out of the US. They have a good price and excellent customer service. I believe they also have a 10% off right now.
