Alden Cordovan?

Hello, just bought these Alden shoes at a local thrift store. Was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about them. They are maked "made expressly for J Gilbert Foowear" are theyauthentic? It appears that the previous owner had rubber soles sewn onto them, but theyre marked Alden as well. Does this devalue the shoes? Or could they have been made with rubber soles? Thanks!
