So I usually wear an 11C, but I should be able to get a great deal on some 11B's---how much narrower are they? Is it a mistake to buy them without trying them on?

Alden typically runs wide. I'm not sure by how much or which lasts, just what i have experienced.

Sorry, I should have said I typically wear an 11C in Aldens--but I've never tried on a B before.

I usually wear a 10 C in alden but I've been thinking a B may work better too. I'm interested in any input too.

Yes, it is a mistake, unless your 11c's are a bit loose. Tight shoes are miserable, and the B will have less room in the toe box.
