Finally, fashion writer Alan J. Flusser talks about his new book, "Dressing the Man"
Starts at about 45 mins in. His suit look a little off?

Any comments?

Yeah, his suit was probably fine, I think it was more of a posture issue. He probably just plopped down and didn't adjust his suit. Flusser looked flustered most of the time, almost insecure--definitely not practicing what he preached in terms of confidence, etc. and really just all over the place with his answers (Charlie was able to articulate what Flusser was trying to say most of the time). He was probably just overwhelmed by being on Charlie Rose. And it was pretty funny how his shirt collar advice was the exact opposite of what he seemed to be following...

Wow he looked absolutely horrible in that clip.

I've always thought Alan Flusser to be all hat and no cattle when it comes to style.

He usually looks prissy and self-conscious in pictures, and while the taste-level is generally high, most of what he chooses for himself does not suit him, or that he merely looks uncomfortable, which brings to mind that many style gurus are like that; they look vastly unimpressive in person than what you would have initially perceived them to be.

Somewhat ironic that he mentions the bit about needing a collar that contrasts with your face since he, according to that, shouldn't be wearing the collar he is.

Though Flusser is a stylish dandy he needs to practice what he preaches.
Cantabrigian is correct that Flusser's collar style does not "suit" him.

I don't know who this Charlie Rose is, but I don't think much of his interviewing technique. "Tell us about shirts" is not much of question. He didn't seem very interested in what Flusser was saying and summed up his answers by virtually turning them completely around. Flusser seemed uncomfortable but I don't think he was really given the opportunity to explain what his book was about - in fact he was never asked.

It did seem that way. Charley's meds may have just kicked in.

I think the book is worth having it. Some nice photos and some interesting views about the relation between clothes style-colour and your build up-face. Obviously there is also plenty of tips-comments which will sound obvious for anybody who has a sense of style and knows how to dress.

I happen to like the interview. I do not think Flusser was "flustered," it's merely his speaking style: a bit of reflection prior to actual speaking.

His sitting position does not flatter his suit, but most importantly, his rotundity clearly shows through the double chin. This fact serves to illustrate that stylish clothes looks best on a relatively lean person. Look at the frequent posters on the what you are wearing section, these guys are not fat.

I particularly like that fact that Flusser points out that the suit shoulder should be proportioned to the size of the head. I see so often, nowadays, the desire to have everything trim fit. This may work nice but often times the result is a big head on a small torso, which looks very comical.

I have the book. I like the pictures the most.

1) Thanks for the link.

2) There is no doubt: buy the book (it is about 45 bucks and in the future you will spent several thousands of dollars on cloth. So 45 bucks is nothing, but it will be an impact on your clothing!).

3) His clothing: What he told: The biggest mistake is trying to look like someone else. Problably he not looks like Cary Grant. And he does not look perfekt, but for him it won't get better?! (Who is perfekt?)

4) Thanks to Flusser for this book!

Can't watch it at work, but I have a copy of the book I would let go for very cheap if anyone could use it. Maybe $20 shipped CONUS. I don't mean to turn this into a private sales thread, but I thought if the price was an issue for someone, this may be an option. I'm done with it.

EDIT: 2 people in line for the book and probably sold.
