I picked up a nicely fitting Oxxford for barneys suit earlier today and I was wondering if anyone could guess it's age. The lapels look abit on the wide side so I am guessing older but not sure if that's just the oxxford style. The pants are flat front and there is a single vent in the back. Thanks for any help.

A picture from the standard angles would likely be of great assistance, along with any labels you might find inside the jacket.

My guess is the 1980s or somewhere thereabouts. Bradford may be able to advise if the year of origin approaches the 1970s

Thanks, I also saw info from that model on google that pointed towards the eighties but figured it was newer being that the pants are flat front and the button stance isn't all that low. I also saw that the more recent oxxford featured wider lapels but what do I know

thanks again for the info.

After clicking on the first picture I was informed that a computer virus attack was thwarted. I use Norton and the virus was heuristic virus? Don't know what that is about but I'm safe.

Hrm, interesting. I've looked into this abit more and the other oxxfords from the 80's mostly have big padded shoulders or a really low button stance while this one doesn't. I've also seen (on ebay) the wide lapels used in more modern (as in a few years ago) models. Anyone else have an opinion on this one?

hehe, no doubt. I'm still wondering if I should keep it or sell it. I need to have the jacket taken in quiet a bit too. I guess my main concern was if it was worth keeping if it had an older/vintage look.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
