Is there an age past which you look weird/dorky wearing Pumas?

Yoox at least had a bunch until recently, maybe still do.

No. But I do think, however, there is a fine line between an older person sucessfully pulling off a "younger look" and one where an older person just exudes that he's trying way too hard. Don't be the latter.

You'll be fine with these. Now if you tried to pull off some of the Mihara Yasuhiro for Pumas... such as bright lime green patent leather with pink mesh... then THAT might be a little much. But, I find that many of the Barrett for Puma or 96 Hours (which he also does) designs look great. Enjoy them! My personal favorites, though, are still the Jil Sander Pumas. Unfortunately, they were discontinued after 2004 or early 2005, but you can still find them relatively easily on ebay and sometimes on yoox.

Some of the 96 Hours/Platinum shoes are quite slick without being childish. The construction and leathers are also great. If you get a more subdued pair, I can't imagine going wrong.

I saw an example of the latter earlier today. Frightening

To be blunt F@&k that. Don't be affraid of trying to wear something you take a fancy to. The fact is, the neil barret range for puma is, in brief, PUMA's answer to the demand in the footwear market for a more smart casual look that has comfort and wearability factored into the designs. If you ask me, PUMA neil Barret range gives the likes of Prada Sport a run for their share of the market.
Go for it.

I would agree with this assessment of the Neil Barret line. I think the 96 hour concept was for the traveling business man where he could pack a relatively light suitcase of items in the 96-hour line for a 4 day business trip and use various combinations for both work and outside of work activities with relative ease and style. My only suggestions, irrespective with age, are to know your style range and choose a model that fits within that range so that you are in fact comfortable with what you're wearing so you don't come off as someone who doesn't look natural and looks like he's trying too hard. Consistency is good. Of course anyone can say, "F it, I don't care what anyone thinks and I can pull of whatever I like." Oh really, that is why you are on a forum asking for advice and comments?

For example, someone wearing Costco jeans with a high rise that's pulled up to the belly button with the polo shirt tucked in with no break in the pants should not be wearing the Neil Barret Puma just because they see it in a store and say, wow I like those and they look nice. Sure they look nice, until you F it up with your outfit. Know your range.

That seems to be the gig today wearing sneakers-sport shoes. Yes, they are comfortable but many of the styles look like hell to me. We have become so accustomed to seeing this crap in our society that we accept it now as style no matter how bad it looks.

I have seen a few Pumas that look really fine and I would almost desire to buy a pair for myself but for all the rest of those sports type shoes they would be better off either in the trash can or on the playing field where they belong.

Some of the styles are so padded that they give the impression a person is wearing flippers on their feet taking word casual to the extreme.
