Any great deals you're seeing after Christmas? Looks like some websites already have lots on sale (brooks brothers, banana republic, and Neiman Marcus).

It looks like the Brooks sales are pretty good, although I still have this unjustifiable bias against Brooks (because of the last decade or so of garbage) that makes it tough for me to pull the trigger on Brooks purchases over about $300.

Did we ever reach a consensus on who makes the current Peals?

Just came home from the mall in Scottsdale and have to say, I was extremely disappointed in the lack of good sales. In my case, the gift cards I received for X-mas are going to stay in my pocket until the store's actually put things on sale at much better prices. I didn't check Neiman's or Sak's, but the sales at Nordstrom's, Dillard's, Macy's and Robinson-May were not impressive and the smaller stores didn't seem to have dropped prices much at all.

There is actually good news in Scottsdale and Phoenix -- and therefore, I imagine, at similar stores around the country. The Polo store has some very good deals: I bought 4 PL polo shirts ($165 each) for $42.50 each, including a white one; also a PL white Italian casual/dress shirt, socks, and a regular label wool-and-cashmere dark navy herringbone blazer for over 60% off.

I bought most of the PL polos in medium, but there were stacks of small, large, extra, and extra-extra.

At Sak's, Ferragamo ties were selling for $40 before noon, a little higher in the afternoon sale.

Neiman's has some Charvet ties on sale as well as Hermes and Ferragamo: 20 or 25% off the sale price.

I spent the morning in Beverly Hills.

Saks was a madhouse...50% off reduced prices before noon. Very slim pickings. Waaayyy too annoying to shop there.

Barneys had a single pair of Crocket & Jones Handgrade Weymouths (medallion wholecuts) for $299. They were UK 10.5's, had they been a 1/2 size larger I would have snapped them up. Not much else to speak of...a few shirts and a few ties on sale upstairs, some Seven, G-star, Earnest Sewn jeans on sale as well.

NM was having their first markdown from sale prices, an add'l 25% off. I'm always impressed by their shirt selection, lots of ties as well. I bought a Paul Smith belt that was about 40% off overall.

YSL started their 60% off sale today, but I only found the new collection interesting.

Sounds like I should have stopped at Biltmore Fashion Park. Bradford

My stepson and I went down to South Coast Plaza this morning. I don't think I'm particularly agoraphobic, but it was such a congested madhouse, I just wanted out of there fast. I was a little curious about the Brooks shoes, as I thought it might be a good chance to try acquiring a pair of Aldens at reasonable cost. However, none of their shoes were marked or segregated as being sale priced, and I just didn't want to be inquiring about every pair that caught my eye. Although Brooks was far more frenetic than usual, it was a haven of tranquility compared to most of the mall. Nordstrom's was an absolute madhouse, didn't see anything in the way of higher-end shoes that was appealing, e.g., I didn't see any Santonis on sale. Although I like a bargain as well or better than the next fellow, I still like shopping to a pleasant experience. This emphatically wasn't.
