I'm attempting to pull off a "smart casual " look. Not dressy but not casual. I've been looking for a pair of leather derbies to pair with dark color jeans or chinos. Brands like Paul Smith or Dries Van Noten make the type of shoe I'm looking for but I'm not in their price range.

    Anyone know of any alternatives?

You mean like the 1461? I had a brown pair at one point

buy any decent looking oxford and have a cobbler put on a vibram sole. I have had much better luck doing that

I think all the CP derbies these past 2 seasons were the shine ones, which are actually really shiny. APC might have something for you.

Also, what's the point of a question like this if you don't say what your price range is?
