Affordable Custom Made Corduroy Pants - Seeking Recommendations

Dear all,

I have a pair of ecru corduroy pants that I absolutely love, but unfortunately, they’re no longer being produced. I’ve explored some alternatives, but everything I’ve found is quite expensive—generally over 250 euros.

I was considering a different approach: sending my existing pants to a tailor abroad (for instance, in Thailand, India, or Eastern Europe) and asking them to replicate the design. My plan would be to purchase a single pair as a sample, and if I’m satisfied with the result, potentially order a few more.

  • Do you think this approach is feasible, or would it be more complicated than it sounds?
  • Also, do any of you have recommendations for reliable tailors who might be able to replicate the pants within a budget of around 100–200 euros per pair?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

P.s. Im based in Europe in case this is relevant.

Check out the Luxire thread, link below. They can do what you want. Their website is Luxire.com . Just search corduroy.

Thanks notdos. I'll check it out. I was also interessted in a dedicated tailor.....less in something like an online shop. But anyway, the other threads on Luxire seem very positive.

To second @notdos , Luxire is very good at replicating garments. They will create a pattern from which you can order more trousers. I'd recommend specifying whether you want to keep all of the stylistic details. If you want to change any details, be as specific as possible (pictures or sketches of examples are helpful, for example).

Thoughts on collaro?
I have had good results from them and would recommend them if you're looking for custom shirts or trousers, but I don't know if they will replicate a pair of trousers that you mail to them. You'd have to ask them if they can/will do that.

You ever ship luxuire a collaro shirt or trousers? How close can they get to the original?

no, I haven't. I have had Luxire replicate an older pair of trousers that I knew I couldn't find new anymore. I personally wouldn't be comfortable having them copy someone else's current pattern but that's me.

The other thing I'd add is that I think Collaro's construction quality is better and more consistent than Luxire's.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
