Newbie question...

I just ordered a pair of AE Strands in Walnut calf. I was going to buy some Saphir cream and polish based on the reviews on SF. Is light brown Saphir the way to go, or should I just use AE polish, other?

Please use quick question/ answer thread next time. If you do not mind paying, go Saphir. But it's non-obligatory.

I prefer not to use polish at all as it will 100% ruin the finish. Instead, what I do is, after a wearing I take a damp cloth and wipe off the shoes,
get the shoe trees in them, let dry, then give them a light brushing with a brush dedicated to this finish.
Once every 2 months or so, I'll apply leather conditioner to them, let completely dry (several hours) then brush, buff and wipe.
Using this method I have been able to easily maintain the natural burnished finish for years.
Congratulations on your Strands, they are a very nice shoe. May you enjoy them in good health. Welcome to Styleforum.

I would probably go with the light brown Saphir polish. I have the medium brown that I use for a different pair of shoes and I would not use it for the Walnut calf as it is a bit too dark.

I've also used the Renovateur on the Strands (twice) and I've found it darkened some parts of the shoe so I don't think I'll do that anymore (or, at least, very sparingly).

Post anywhere you wish....

AE sells walnut polish. Color matches perfectly.
