AE stores vs. AE Outlets

Is there a real advantage to an AE outlet store, or is it just like the regular stores?

An AE outlet just opened in my area, but there are no AE stores around, so I'm wondering if there are any real deals to be had

They usually sell the older/discontinued models at a lower price...

+1. There is an absolute advantage if you don't mind buying discontinued models. I recently picked up the Delrays for $150 and the Bel Airs for $130 from an AE outlet. Those aren't insanely good deals compared to what you might find online, but I like being able to try on shoes before I buy them. Even if you've got your eye on a current model, everything in the outlet I was at was at least 20% off retail. Over their Labor Day sale, everything was at least 30% off.

Based on this thread ... I had begun to think that AE has developed a product -- never mind that I still haven't determined precisely what they make -- one that plugs into an (electrical) outlet.

A-E Outlets are wonderful things. I would have gone into mourning when the A-E Outlet in Cabazon, California, was closed had I not been so well supplied with A-E's purchased there.

A-E stores are full-retail operations usually (except for the odd sale and various specials). The main advantage of an A-E store over, say, Nordstrom's is that they stock the complete A-E line.

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
