AE Park Avenue width size question

I needed a pair of black captoes and found a good pair of used AE Park Ave's on eBay in my usual size, 9D. Unfortunately I need a wider size, as you can see from the pic below, since bluchers should fit so that the front part of the quarters where the eyelets are lie parallel, covering the tongue.

Judging from the pic, and considering they stretch out a tad, do you think I should go for E or EEE width?

Don't quite follow you on how they should fit. But I am a true 10.5 D, and a park ave in size 9.5 EEE fits me. It has a long last so I could get away with it. The park ave loses its sleek appearance and looks a little more militaristic/boot-like, but that's fine by me. Weirdly, out of all my shoes, these are the ones that I get compliments on, some boring old cap toes.

I am a slightly short and wide 9D (though 9D usually fits fine) and wear 8.5 E in PA

I would suggest going to a store to try them out before you buy.

If you don't have that option, my opinion is that you should try the EEE.

I'm not usually a wide in most brands but for some reason, I'm an E in the Park Avenue.

Yes, I was going to do that since I walk right by a store every Wednesday, however I took the plunge seeing as how I found an almost new pair of Park Ave's in 9E on ebay for a great price I couldn't pass up on... one lesson is sometimes not enough! Funny how that happens, eh? I bought a pair thinking they'd be good now and again, but have ended up wearing them at least once a week. Prefer NOT to wear them with a suit as standard business gear, but rather with jeans (black or dark blue).

With all AE shoes made on last #5, you need to go one size wider. A 9.0D would be a 9.0E.

I agree. D's are too narrow for me in AE. I have to expand to a 10 E.

Anyways, it would be best if you could go to a store and try on a wider width before you make another purchase.

I stopped by the AE store today and the salesman said I should go with the 9D, and that the quarters should form a V over the tongue and not lie parallel covering it...

Oh, I see. That doesn't really matter too much. Different shoes will do that and others will not.

Resuscitating this thread, the 9s also fit me like Goofy, and length wise the 7s fits the best. I am wearing 7 eee in the pic below, and while they fit right, they still don't fit how I wanted balmorals to do so, with the quarters hiding the tongue in parallel. Any idea on whether they would stretch out sufficiently to do so, either by themselves or taking them to a cobbler, or should I throw in the towel with Park Aves altogether?
