I think he was banking on an old adage [that includes the term "sucker"] - besides Doc's calculations, what about all the time that would need to be invested in getting rid of these? I don't know if I would want to be bothered for even half the opening bid...or less

I'm waiting for Andrew to unload 70 JLs or Egs at a time.

I've sold these anywhere from $50-175. Half of them are ready to be put online. The other half just needs polishing and some small stitching repairs. I'd be willing to take offers but there is definitely profit to be made here at this price.

You might be right, but I wonder how much a cobbler would charge for those "small stitching repairs?".
