I'm not too enamoured with super sleek shoes - I don't like oxfords and prefer something with a bit of heft.

Looking at AE Leeds to wear with suits and sport coats but I've never seen them in the flesh so I'm relying on internet pics. What say the SF consensus on these? Doable, or clunky blobby bus driver shoes?

I have them in 7.5EEE burgundy shell and think they look clunky. In an AE store I saw a larger size--maybe 10 or so and probably D width--and though it looked nice--better proportioned IMO. You probably have observed they have a double leather sole and reverse welt, which make them more hefty. Personally I would not buy the burgundy shell to wear with suits unless they are rather casual as the burgundy shell can change color and develop variations over time. This can add attractiveness to a casual shoe but might make the shoe less appropriate with suits. For conservative suits I think the black calf version would be safer. I would think a size 9 or larger burgundy shell with casual sport coats would be very nice.

I really like the look of the Leeds in burgundy shell and think they look great with suits, provided you're not looking for a sleek shoe. I had to return mine though because the 11.5 D (my normal size) was waaay to big in the heel, while 11D was too tight in the toe. So be mindful that they run a bit big. I plan on making another run at them in 11.5C or trying the Alden PTB.
