Thinking about picking up a pair of these. I have some Alden #8s and they are very deep burgundy color. I've read where the color on the burgundy AE shell is almost brown. Anyone here have the AE burg shell, and how is the color relative to Alden #8?

No AE store around here, so my next question is on fit. In Alden, their shell shoes tend to be a little bigger all around, to the tune of maybe a half size. How about the AE's? TTS, or size down 1/2?

Thanks all.

E cordovan in burgundy is very nice but you're right, in some light they almost look deep brown. I shined them with kiwi cordovan polish a couple of times but then today used kiwi oxblood which is more of a cherry red colour that seems to bring up their burgundy colour a little better.
I've been snooping a pair of CTBs by Alden in no. 8 cordovan (waiting for a discount price) which to my eye looks almost black so if and when I get them I will again try to cherry them up a bit with a slightly lighter polish.

In most of my shoes I take a US9 but my AE Macneils are US 8.5.

Hope this helps.
