Advise on my new suit, something a bit off?

Hi guys.

Something seems a bit off on my jacket. I was thinking about maybe slimming the arms. Anything else that should be altered in your opinion?

It’s hard to say much about details of fit with a photo like this. We really need photos without you holding the camera. That being said, what is clear is that this is a fashion-forward suit that is not popular here. Many typical issues with this kind of fit:
- short and tight in the body (the jacket lapels are curving instead of lying flat)
- there is a visible triangle of shirt below the jacket button because the buttoning point is high and the trouser rise is low
- the trouser legs are overly narrow. They make your feet look big and I suspect they drape poorly , if we had side/rear views.
The last thing I would want to do with this would be to slim the sleeves and make it look even more tight than it is.

It’s not bad at all for a fashion-forward suit. Don’t slim the sleeves, they’re fine, if not a touch short.

Yes, these pictures are better—thank you. I think they confirm my impressions from your selfie. It is a common enough look nowadays but I think it does not flatter most people.

Too small. You shouldnt be able to see a little triangle between the lower quarters of the jacket.
Creases in the thigh are bad.
Shoes look a bit clunky for such tapered suits

If you’re in your 20s, then this is ok. You’ll be the best-dressed twenty something in the room. Once you’re over 30 though, you’ll see that the blue suit needs a bit more length in the sleeves, and both suits are too tight around the waist. Also, your shirt sleeve needs to slide over your watch.

The blue-ish suit is at least a half size too small. The brown suit is just too small all around. Where do you wear pants that fitted? Is this a sort of "I've been working out; look at me" kind of deal which is apparently -- and regrettably -- popular now? I'm confused.

With suits are fitting too small. Jackets are too short and a but too tight (especially in backside). tightness and pulling is never a good thing in a suit.

Go on Pinterest and search classic mens wear to get an idea of a properly fitting suit. Not your fault and I do not mean to offend you. I blame the salesperson who let you walk out of the store with that.

From my own style perspective: The midsection of the jacket is too small, and the shoulders are perhaps out of proportion to the small midsection of the jacket and the open breakpoint. The pants are too small in leg opening and seat, which, other than actual fit, affects the subjective look of the jacket.

I’m sure the suit, as is, will make you better dressed than most, though, consider you seem to be both young and on the slimmer side. People dress horrendously in my workplace!

I don't know if this is of any help and it is a bit off topic, but I personally would wear brown or dark brown shoes with a blue or dark blue suit. Your feet are the visual end of your body and I think you should accentuate them. If you are wearing black shoes under a dark blue suit then it is like your shoes visually disappear because of the low colour contrast.

I have to disagree with some of this. I do not think that drawing attention to one’s shoes is a generally good idea for a conservative outfit (a navy suit). Nothing wrong with dark brown or black shoes with a navy suit. Black shoes with a navy suit is a classic look. I would not wear light brown or tan shoes with a navy suit.

Exactly the opposite. Shoes must be darker than the suit, never lighter.
