I've always loved the look of cuffed trousers/slacks and now I'm going to have my tailor convert all of my current trousers into cuffs.

I'll most likely have no break and I wear a wide range of shoes from brogues, boots, whole cuts and cap toes.

I work in finance if that matters or not.

Does my height determine whether I should go with a 1.5, 1.75 or a 2" cuff? I'm 5'10".

Cheers,

I am also 5’10” and my pants that are cuffed are a 1.5”. But all my future pants I will go for 1.75” . 1.5” is safe option – but 1.75 is more stylish.

Appreciate the feedback! I, too, think 1.75" looks better too. 2" seems too crazy for me.

Cheers

I go 2" on all my pleated pants. I'm 6'2". I'm very sensitive about dressing too foppish in certain company and never feel that way about 2" cuffs. Whereas I would feel that way about 4.5" lapels for example.

^ Hmm, I guess I meant 2" for my height. I also wear flat fronts only so I wonder what would be better.

I guess all in all, the length of the cuffs depends on the person. To each its own ...

2” cuff on anyone who is under 6’ will only make him look shorter.

I am getting 4.5cm which translates into 1.77 inches. For your reference, I am 1.80m tall.

for me...i tend to go with 2' cuffs on heavier fabric pants and 1,75 on lighter weights. IM 6'3 though...i think if youre under 6' you shouldnt go larger than 1.75"

No cuffs and a little trimmer fit on all my flat front pants.

1.5" works best for me (~5'6" tall), but I only get turn-ups if I feel that fabric and leg opening is one that would suit them. In general, for me that tends to be more casual items and softer/fuzzier fabrics.

As a general rule, I think keeping them proportionate to your height is sensible. If you deliberately opt to have a deeper turn-up than would be proportionate, then I think it makes the item look more casual (or odd, depending on the degree of mismatch) than it otherwise would appear. SF tends to prefer a slightly deeper turn-up than would be typical for any given height of wearer, but I would suggest that this is more a function of groupthink than any particularly dazzling fresh insight on proportion.

@ 5'9", I've found 1.5" to be the sweet spot. 1.75" seems just a tad bit heavy handed on me, though not obviously oversized; and I have had some at 1.25" in the past which were far too weak. 2" would make me look like a clown I'm afraid.

But I've found that half the time when I ask for 1.5" cuffs, I end up with 1.75" anyway, and I never bother to have it corrected. I tend to do cuffs with pleats and hemmed with plain fronts.

Wow! Thank you all for the responses, I greatly appreciate it.

From the responses I'm receiving, I'll be going with a 1.75" cuff. 2" does seem too much for my height at 5'10".

Can't wait to have these trousers cuffed!

This may be a dumb question, but how much extra fabric does a tailor need to be able to do 1.75 inch cuffs? I am asking so that I know how long to buy my pants in the future.
