I ordered two pair of Peal monks, one 10 and one 10.5 since I wasn't sure on the sizing figuring I'd list or return whichever didn't work. They arrived today and look quite different from each other.

Here is a link to the shoes on BB: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatP...=&sectionsize=

Here is a link to the same shoes previously listed on B&S: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...ight=peal+monk

And here are some pictures of the shoes I received:

The lighter pair are the 10's which fit snug, but wearable. The darker pair are the 10.5's which are slightly loose and I worry they might stretch even more. The 10's kind of appeal to me as an antiqued look, is that crazy? It almost looks like they are sun faded or someone tried to antique them. Another odd thing, the heel on the 10's is longer with an extra nail in each side.

Like the dark colored ones. The light ones are meh. . Regarding size my opinion is opposite of the one above. If it only slightly loose I will keep the loose ones rather than the snug ones.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I find the lighter one interesting, but probably not practical. The 10.5's (darker one's) have some slight heel slippage that has me concerned. I also forgot to mention that these are now sold out, so this was the only size 10 available.

A good fit is where you have some wiggle room for your toes.
As for the heel, as long as the shoe is not slipping off your foot as you walk, you're ok.
If you are able to kick off the shoe, it's too big.
If your heel literally lifts out of the shoe while walking, it's too big.
If you have no room to comfortably wiggle your toes, its too narrow.
If you can feel the front of the toebox with your toes and there is no wiggle room,
then the shoe is a half size too small, or too narrow.
Try the shoes with different socks; thicker & thinner.
Do this at the end of the day when your feet will be bigger than in the morning.
Were it me personally, I would rather have a touch extra room, than not enough.
If the shoe is too tight, your feet won't breathe properly.
Lastly, I prefer the darker model, but both are nice.

Return them both - the 10.5 doesn't fit, and the 10 is damaged.

wow that is the worst case of sun damage I have ever seen. shame on BB for putting those back in the box...

Does it say what store they are from? I would bet, one with a very large front window.

I say keep the lighter pair. Send them off to Ron Rider and let him put them back in order. It's still a better deal than the list price, and they are nice shoes.

I love the 10.5 brown. If you paid $199 for them, and are going to return them, would you be interested in selling them to me? I will give you $220 today and you don't have to hassle with returning them.
