Advice on what to wear with these loafers?

Hey Gents,

Perhaps you can help me out. I got these loafers recently I don't know how or what to where them with. I almost never wear shorts. I have very hairy legs and feet so I don't like to go sock less either. If I wanted to wear these with either khaki's or blue jeans on a casual work day what would be best to wear them with? Something contrasting like in the picture or would I be better off with a light brown or dark brown sock. Or do they just not work at all in this situation?

And if we could stay away from bashing the shoes in general it would be appreciated. They were a party intoxicated impulse buy in Vegas that I am kinda regretting at this point.

Thanks

Contrasting socks are fine. Purple as you've used is good with the color of the shoes. Rich blues would work well too.
The shoes seem very dark for those very light Khaki trou however. They would certainly work better with more medium to dark trou/jeans.
The shoes aren't much to look at IMO. Sorry.

Why the repost? Why crying about "bashing" that didn't take place? :puzzled:
They offered good advice and sincere subjective judgement of your shoes in a very polite and friendly manner.

I only re-posted as I was looking for other opinions and figured I would get more responses by not embedding the question in another thread.

I never said anyone bashed the shoes, I was just put that in there in an effort to keep the thread on track. You know as well as I do if people here don't like a certain style of shoe/jacket/coat/whatever the thread will get way off track and the original question never gets answered. I was just hoping to prevent that and get a variety of opinions without people saying stuff like 'they will look best in the garbage' etc which I have seen happen before.

Well, what do you want to here other than what Gdot/stitch said? They're brown loafers after all.

Why do you care so much about this? According to you every thread on this forum should only have 1 response then because why would anyone want more than one opinion. I was hoping to get some options, not just one thing I can wear with them. Man, this forum makes it really hard to new people to learn about fashion.

Well, it's such a simple question.

I imagine most here simply think you need to do your homework. ie. look at the WAYWRN threads, maybe follow a blog or two, etc. etc. Brown loafers are a pretty basic item of men's clothing. There are literally thousands of ways to wear them.

I propose that you are more upset about your less than stellar judgement in buying these shoes than you are about the responses you received and are perhaps redirecting your anger at others. (Arm chair psychology to be sure.)

The good news in that regard is that they probably will look a little better with some wearing and occasional cream polish. As this should enliven the finish. Which at the moment is quite dead. I recommend using a cream that is a few shades lighter than the current color.

Deal with it and move on.

According to you, every question you ask should have multiple threads. If you ask to be spoon fed, people here will be hard on you. Brown loafers are pretty versatile. Check out some of the threads where people post fit pics and see what combos look good to you. Here is an excellent place to start: http://www.styleforum.net/t/72565/rock-your-socks-show-your-sock-shoe-pant-combos
