First of all, apologies if this is in the wrong forum; I wasn't sure where it should go.
I'm thinking about selling a suit. I love it, but it doesn't really fit me any more, and I haven't worn it in several years. I hate to see it just hanging in my closet collecting dust, but I don't want to just give it away, either.
At the time I bought it, I was living and working in upstate New York (for those familiar with the area, I was living in the Town of Brunswick, about 20 miles NE of Albany, a few miles from the Vermont border), and it was an appropriate choice for that climate, at least in winter. It's quite a warm suit.
I relocated to Cincinnati a little over 10 years ago, though, and it never really gets cold enough here to wear this suit any more; I can count on one hand the number of times I've worn it since I moved here (for instance, I remember wearing it - without a topcoat - to a Christmas buffet at Orchids in the Netherland Plaza Hotel downtown and thinking it was too warm).
I've never sold a suit before, so I don't even know what I don't about selling one, and I'm hoping to get some advice here.
About the suit: it's a medium-gray Super 150s suit that I was told was made by St. Andrews for Bergdorf Goodman. There's nothing in the suit itself to indicate (to me, at least) that St. Andrews was the actual maker, but it is a very high-quality suit: to the best of my recollection, at the time I bought it (maybe a dozen years ago), it was selling at Bergdorf for around $2,500. I'm including some pictures below to show some of the features of the suit. Please excuse the poor quality of the pics.
I'd appreciate any advice or pointers you could share about how to best describe it, price it, when to sell it (i.e., is it better to sell it now, or wait until later in the year?), what pictures to include, etc.
Thanks!
