Advice On Purchasing Suit

I am fairly new to posting on SF, however I have been reading the threads for over a year; all the information has been invaluable in building a business wardrobe. I recently purchased a pair of AEs and love the fit. Tonight I spotted a wool/linen suit by Oscar de la Renta (OSCAR label) for $100 marked down from $350, and wondered if this would be a good buy for a summer suit as it gets hot in the summer in Washington, DC. I think that the linen content may foster wrinkling which can be bothersome. Would welcome suggestions from more experienced members as if this is a smart buy or something that I will regret later; perhaps paying more for something a bit more substantial from a different designer? Thanks.

You think that it is a poor quality? Should I try something from STP or Nordstrom Rack which may cost more initially, however longer lasting?

Is it good quality? Probably not. Comfortable? Wrinkly? That depends on the percentage of linen. Chances are that it will be okay on both counts. Above all, because the price is low and the cut of the suit probably good for someone with your body (slim athletic, it seems, for which few inexpensive ready-to-wear suits are made, even fewer of them summer suits), it ought to be fine.

It's been quite a while since I have been reading SF and hard to remember, but I probably found the forum from a link either from The Sartorialist or the NY Times T magazine. I must confess that reading the forum has become a daily must-do, and have recommended SF to quite a few friends.

Linen will wrinkle. Just how it is. Check out Brooks Bros. as they have some linen sport coats.

Thanks for the welcome. I have found the info on suits (fabric and construction etc) so helpful in purchasing suits (Armani, HFreeman, and Aboud are usually what I purchase because of price point, style and I use them so infrequently--as a gardener I spent a lot of time in the mud) and staying away from the 'lesser' quality of Alfani/KCole which I must confess were the selections made prior to SF.

To be honest, some of your recent selections may be questionable as well. Definitely want to stay away from Men's Warehouse fare like Abboud as well. Armani and Hickey Freeman can be decent, depending, though.

Armani and Aboud are fairly reasonable priced and I had a hard time finding suits (prior to SF) cause wide shoulders (need 42R without a lot of shoulder padding), had to have chest taken in, and waist at 33. I always stayed away from the Prada/Versace etc selection caused seemed very trendy and BB more traditional or all-american than I prefer; should I pursue MTM or invest in one of the Isia/Corneliani suits currently on sale at Sierra? Seriously, I am taking a hard look at the suits I own and coming to the conclusion that many are probably ill-fitted (loose/baggy) for my body-type

If you can afford it, never a bad idea.
