Would love some of your advice please on a shoe I'm getting made. I'm debating whether to get an imitation Lobb Chapel or Green Dover. If I go the Dover route, I'd forego the split toe and just have a stitched apron. Just a personal preference. Anyway, I'd get them in #8 Cordovan with dainite soles. I'd mostly wear them on weekends and with odd trousers and blazers, however, I'd occasionally wear them with suits in bad weather.

Any advice on which to get? I don't have a double monk or a derby that isn't a chukka. Also, unfortunately I can't afford both right now. Anyway, looking forward to your opinions. Thanks!

*I posted this originally in the shoe damage thread but didn't get any responses.

That may be the worst "advice" I've ever heard.

It really depends on how you see yourself in terms of style: I feel like the Dover is for those who consider themselves timelessly well dressed & the lobb double monk chapels are for those who are more fashion forward. I'd personally go Dover but a true dover not whatever you're talking about.

I feel like double monk is more of a fashion item than a split toe which is more of a closer-to-classic shoe.

If I read correctly, the guy is having shoes made, so if you were him instead of a bespoke pair made like a Dover, you rather but the RTW pair?

Subjective but I'd go monk straps for flannels and cords, but you've got to wear your trews with no break
