Advice on fit of new suit

Hello SF community. I need some suit fitting advice. I don't wear suits very often, maybe a few times a year. I have a wedding to attend coming up in August and ordered two suits from Suitsupply. The first is a 42R and the second is a 44R. I am not sure about the fit of either. The 42R fits well throughout but tight in the upper arm and upper back area. The 44R is roomier but the shoulders seem bigger than the guides on the Internet allow (though it doesn't look like that) and there is a slight collar gap if I move around.

I participate in powerlifting and have broad shoulders, and a wide chest and upper back. Finding a suit that fits well isn't easy. Would it be easier to tailor the 44R suit into something passable?

Imgur links just in case:
42R:
44R:

Thank you!

I find a suit with a tight upper sleeve will never be comfortable. For that reason alone I say no to that one. The quarters also look to be flying away from the side angle.

Collar gap is a tough alteration to fix, but can be done by a competent tailor, I've done it before. Looks like the back can be taken in as well.

Shoulders look fine on the bigger jacket. Personally I like a bit of chest drape and slight excess fabric, so the chest looks fine to me as well.

Frankly, I would try a different style. For once a year both look ok (not really but compared to the rest of the world that doesn't care) but maybe try a single breasted suit from SS. I also recommend going to a SS store to try on different styles and sizes and I can also recommend Spier Mackay (there is plenty info on this forum).
Lastly, try to wear shoes that you would wear with the pants aka dress shoes that gives you a better idea of the fit of the pants.

Also check out this thread it is dedicated to fit questions: https://www.styleforum.net/threads/...ion-suggestions.265924/page-586#post-10223672

Thank you for the advice! I do feel more comfortable moving around in the larger suit.

Thank you for your reply. You are right that I should have worn shoes with the suit. I have a preference for double-breasted suits so I ordered these. I am waiting for the COVID-19 situation to get better before I go to a store to try on suits and get advice from the staff.

Just try Spier Mackay if you are in US / Canada it should not take too long for your delivery
