Advice needed: Classic belt buckle for custom-made leather dress belt

Dear all,

I'm looking to source a belt buckle for a custome-made 35mm wide men's dress belt (black alligator matte from Atelier Jean Rousseau, Paris).

Ideally a simple, classic square buckle in silver color (could be sterling, but also open to other materials).

Any tips on vendors/makers would be highly appreciated.

Best regards and many thanks in advance,

Jan

This is somewhat difficult, as a classic dress belt is about 1" (25mm) in width. At most, it could maybe (maybe) stretch as wide as 1.25" (31mm). The belt in question is 35mm, and most of the dress belt buckles I'd otherwise suggest don't come in a large enough size to handle a 35mm wide belt.

If that's the limiting factor, 30mm would also be an option. Would be very grateful for your suggestions...

Many thanks,

Well, as I've already said, 1" (25.4mm) really is the norm.

For such a belt, one obvious suggestion would be a sterling silver engine-turned belt buckle, such as the iconic Tiffany version, pictured below. (And get the monogrammed initials hand engraved, not machine engraved.)

I think there are a few sources for such buckles sized to fit a 1 3/16" belt - I'm pretty sure Trafalgar offers such a buckle, and there must be others. 1 3/16" is within 100 microns or so of 30mm. More than close enough for your purposes.

If this isn't what you have in mind, I understand that W. Kleinberg offers some very nice silver buckles, in a variety of widths.
