Ok, guys, I stumbled across this site when trying to find some reviews of suits and was instantly a bit disappointed when I saw that the J.Crew suits are getting such bad reviews. I've never owned one, but I was planning going there to maybe get one as I like J.Crew, or at least the Men's Shop and the Liquor Store here in New York. I thought the Ludlow suit looked great on the site and was excited about going there to try one on. Not so excited anymore after reading here.

I'm a fashion-minded guy, at least in a Swedish/European sense, but when it comes to suits I'm not very experienced. The only suit I brought with me here to New York was ruined by a dry-cleaner. So, my problem is that I need a new suit before the weekend as I'm going to London for an important interview and workshop with the WPP.

What would you recommend? I guess the look of the Ludlow suit is what I'm after, a slim modern/british suit that would be a little bit of all-purpose apart from more formal, black-tie events. I also have my eyes on a pair of Alden wing tips, either black or brown depending on the colour of the suit, but I'm up for suggestion and always spend plenty of time trying an outfit on before buying. This thing came up on very short notice, so I only have until the weekend.

I know it might be hard to give me anything concrete based on this information, but if you have any tips at all I'd be very grateful. I'm 5'9" and weigh about 165 with a pretty muscular build. I'm preferably looking to spend no more than $600 on the suit.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

You're either going to have to troll filene's basement, century 21, b&s for suits that fit (get measurements first) or just go to h&m, zara, uniqlo for a suit. the +J collection looks pretty good.

save up money for a real suit in the meanwhile.
