Hello gurus!

I have been lucky to get invited to an event, via work, at a posh location. Its a lunch event which will continue into the afternoon and evening.

The dress code has been described as smart casual. Arrggghh!

I am thinking some kind of 'day suit' maybe without tie. But I dont want it to look like an office suit.

Please does anyone have ideas on what this may look like? I have a month to prepare.

Thanks

Going to need a lot more information than this to help. What part of the country are you in? “Smart Casual” in Atlanta will be different from San Francisco. What kind of work do you do? Advertising “smart casual” will differ from Banking “smart casual” will differ from academic “smart casual.” What’s the event and where? Work holiday party at your boss’s country club will require a different “smart casual” than a meeting of the top sales people at the local convention center. Or meeting of newly hired accountants held at a room at the Ritz Carlton. How big is the function? 500 or 50? Are you planning on buying a whole outfit for this or trying to use what you’ve got. What’s your price range? So many questions....

Ah, sorry, then. I'm in the US, so my thoughts about "smart casual" will have no relevance for your situation. Good luck. Sounds posh! ;-)
