Advice for my wedding outfit

Hi all, new in town here and looking for some advice. I apologise as this will be long winded.... Forgive me.

I'm getting married in May and I'm in need of a suit. I've made the decision to go with pre-owned from a reputable reseller as this will allow me to get the best quality suit within a limited budget. I've been reading and re-reading articles to death about what colours will work, what size to buy etc. (along with myriad other wedding related articles) and it's kind of turned into a soup in my head so I'm hoping someone kind can give me a hand.

I've sort of narrowed it down to 2 suits, both Canali, one is new without tags and the other excellent condition.

My first question is fit, one of the suits is a 32 waste, with an additional 2 inches of fabric for alterstalte. By my own measurements and by what my jeans say, I'm a 34. Is two sizes to much alter? Also, the chest is 20" pit to pit, my chest measures 42". Will that be problematic or is it negligible?

My other is a question of coordination. I have already purchased a pair of Mark Mcnairy low Chukka boots in walnut leather.. I probably should have but the suit first and then the shoes to match but here we are.

Assuming all things are equal with size, which suit will work better, the dark grey nailhead, or the mid gray (please please don't say neither). Pictures to follow.

Thanks in advance for you patience, advice and understanding.

All I can say is that jeans are made to sit lower down than suit trousers. Trousers are made to sit just under your belly button on your waist and no hips. My advice is to quickly find a dry cleaning/alteration place and ask them to measure you.
In regards to the boots, I think they're too casual and clunky for a suit (especially Canali). A black oxford would be your best bet.

I was afraid of that. I'll probably look into an Oxford as well. I'm typically someone who dresses much more casually and my thought was that I would like something in a shoe that I could also wear more regularly so aren't quite as dressy. I was hoping since these were low they might be able to straddle that line nicely. The style of boot aside, I am a little attached to the colour. Would it work with either of those suits in your opinion?

Sure, the colour is fine. Due to the weaves of the fabric though I wouldn't go too textured. Something like from Crockett & Jones would be perfect.

I'll take that into account and see what I can find. May have to search for something comparable or pre-owned. Appreciate the help.

This is definitely problematic. It sounds like that suit is far too small for you. If your chest measures 42", you will typically need a jacket that measures around 45" (give or take an inch) because a jacket measuring 42" in the chest would be literally skin-tight on your body. It won't be possible to let that jacket out enough.

Do you know your suit size? If not, it would be well worth your effort to try on some suits in person, ideally at a store where they have sales associates who know something about men's clothing.

This close to the wedding, I personally would not be trying to find a used suit, especially since it sounds like you don't have a lot of experience in this area. If you have a good local clothing store, start there.

Go for a good fit and quality fabric for the suit. It always pays off. In the end, it's your wedding so this would be the time where you could splurge and stretch your budget a bit. Good luck!!!

Yeah this is probably good advice. I'm going to head to a nearby Brooks Brothers outlet and see what they have. Hopefully they can quench my thirst for a deal. Not worth the risk with something this big. Cheers.

Most of the suits at the BB outlet stores are made expressly for the outlets. They are not very well made. It sounds like you don't already own a suit, so it might be worth spending a bit more to get a suit that you can use on other occasions. Do you have a regular (non-outlet) BB nearby?

That's very good to know, I'll have to take a look. I'm a new resident in Japan and still getting a handle on the language/geography, was at an outlet mall and just happened to notice it there.

Update, I took the advice and took some more measurements, suit arrived today and it fits great! 280$ new without tags. I'm ditching the clunky chukkas and have my eye on a pair of Oxfords. Now it's just time to get a proper dress shirt and a tie. Thanks for the help gents.
