Hi there,

I saw a suit on the internet which will probably fit me well. However the waist of the pants is 35.5" and I normally wear 34". The web site states that the waist can easily be taken in by several inches.

My question is: does taking in of the waist result in a bad look? Does this procedure violate the "looks" of the pants or is it usually no problem?

Please let me know,

Mike

Assuming the pants haven't already been taken in to reach their current state, they can easily be taken in up to a couple of inches usually, the limit being how close together the back pockets are. It's a very simple, standard alteration.

Do you think the back pockets will be too close to each other if the waist would be taken in by 1.5 inches? Here's a pic of the specific dress pants I am talking about:

A bit of an aside here, but welcome William, I'm sure we all look forward to the valuable contributions you will make here, being a bona fide SR tailor! I've wondered why more of you aren't members of this forum, perhaps you could spread the word to your colleagues.
