I was shopping early in the morning and not quite awake, and I accidentally bought a belt with a gold, rather than a silver, buckle. I'm disappointed about it and find the gold color a little corny. Just wanted to rant.

Gold works with browns. Silver with blacks

The belt is brown, fortunately. It's strange, I really thought the buckle was silver when I bought it.

I feel compelled now to wear gold shoes and a gold sportcoat. It's the only way to obscure the shame of the belt.

Can't you return it?

I actually managed to wear it for 24 hrs without noticing it was the wrong color.
If I were feeling cheeky I suppose I could return to the store and try the squeaky wheel tactic, although the belt already has a minute crease from being cinched.

ha, this is an idiot thing to do but I did something similar earlier today. I wore a polished stainless steel buckle the entire day thinking it was brass. It was the lighting I tell you... When you say gold, do you mean brass? Or is this belt actually gold plated?

Yes, I of course meant brass; I was just distinguishing between "gold" and "silver" colors.
If it were solid gold I would definitely be

right now.
I guess it's sort of a lighter shade, not super yellow. It's not that bad.
It's the lighting, yeah...

this is good advice. I prefer the "silver" buckle over the "gold" buckle because brass is something my dad would wear

I associate gold buckle with the Brooks Brothers sack suit wearing set.
Looks fine on luggage and bags, though.

I always prefer a brass buckle on most anything (belts, monks, etc) as my wedding ring is gold which is the only piece of jewelry I wear. Perhaps one day I'll get another watch. But it would have to be gold in color, of course.
