I'll be spending a long weekend in Charlotte, NC later this month and am wondering which stores are a must-visit? In particular, are there any decent outlets in the area? Any dining recommendations are also welcome!

clothing wise there is paul simon co, taylor richards & conger, and then southpark mall which has neiman marcus, louis vuitton, hermes, billy reid, ralph lauren, burberry, etc...

food wise some of my favorites are del friscos, zebra, savanah red, mcintoshs, for nicer places but for casual I have to go with the Penguin. hands down my favorite place to eat anywhere in charlotte.

outlets can be found in concord (concord mills mall) but I hate driving up there because it is so crowded and it doesn't have anything special.

if I can get rid of this raging headache i'll try to think of some more.

I've been down here all summer and by far the best meal is at Fig Tree. Concord Mills is like any other outlet mall but it is all inside.

Favorite place to eat... Mickey and Mooches is one of my favorite restaurants around here. It's in Huntersville, just north of Charlotte up I77 5-10 miles of Center City. It's awesome, little upscale but great atmosphere and usually some live music on the weekends.

Concord Mills is a decent outlet area if you want to shop.. its a huge outlet mall, about 1.5 miles around if you walk around the whole thing.

Best Restaurant is for sure Fig Tree and for shoping I would reccomend Pure Denim Boutique in the South Park Mall. If you're looking for something that is pretty unique check out MAC's biker bar out on south blvd, they have awesome food and a unique asthetic, also there is a lot of theatre performances during the summer so you can check out great shows in Charlotte like Avenue Q (if it's still showing). Downtown, you can check out bentleys. The outlets in the area are weak. Not worth the drive. You could do better online, save the gas money.

I like Upstream in Phillips place. You can shop at Taylor, Richards and Conger and the walk down the street for a good meal.

I think all the good shopping has been mentioned. Only one I didn't hear mentioned was Fairclough and Co. on Providence Rd. in Eastover which sells Alden.

If you like pizza go to Luisa's on Montford drive. Its definitely not fancy but the pizza is the best I've had in the US.

As a true pizza lover, I will definitely have to try that place out. NY style I assume?

I'm not sure I'd call it NY style, its more European than anything I've had in NY. Very light by American standards though recently it has been a little heavier than in past years. Its a true brick oven pizzeria.

The place is really unassuming, you might think I'm crazy when you go in there but trust me you will enjoy the pizza.
