1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

Before it goes down to the basement for a well deserved spring-summer rest, here's some pictures from one of my favorite brown prince of wales suit by Ripense

Does Ripense work on cloth provided by the customer and, if so, what is the cost of labor only for a two-piece suit?

    Hi there,

Yes they do. A year ago, it was somewhere around 2200 EUR. The grey Prince of Wales (3 piece) that I posted was actually a CMT commission (Cut Make Trim).

I was going to use that acronym but I wasn't sure if it is used in your neck of the woods.

Paul, curious, are you able to say if that navy raw silk has any sheen? Also, any idea of where it's from? Is it Drapers by chance?

That silk has absolutely no sheen whatsoever. It does capture a bit of the light as can seen on the picture of the back of the jacket but it isn't shiny (thank god).

It was purchased from a fabric merchant in the little town of Biella near the Swiss border.

I just visited Ripense and ordered a suit. I also met SeamasterLux there (he must be living in that shop :) ). It was quite an experience; I did 4 fittings in the course of 5 days. Although many of his customers do the process in a much longer time; I just walked in and said that I'll be in Rome for a week and is it possible to have a suit made. Now I'm waiting for the suit as it's scheduled for September. The suit was very promising in its "final fitting" -state and I'm really looking forward to it. I may even put some pictures here, once I get it.

Was nice meeting you Patrik. I am definitely not living in the shop but funny coincidence indeed. I actually met quite a few clients over the years who came there after reading something I had written about Ripense.

I don't live in the shop but being now working in Rome for two weeks, I stop by from times to times for lunch break (and for my fittings as well)
