1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

    There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    This was probably the best photo post thread I read as well, I just saw it again on the best SF threads thread and had to bump it. Awesome.

    Yeah, this should be a pinned, HOF thread.

    If there's ever any argument to newbies why one should spend the requisite $ on quality shoes, it's this...

    One of the best photo essay's I've seen. I wouldn't have believed that you could do that to shoes in such a state.

    Thank you for taking the time to chronicle the step-by-step procedures.
    It will help so many people see how much work is involved in a restoration.

    I am inspired by your work, your love of what you do, and your skills.

    Bravo!

    While I was amazed at the work done when I first saw this thread months ago, I've now noticed that:

    - the new half sole isn't stitched to the welt, but I guess the original sole wasn't either;
    - no cork filler/paste in there?
