Maybe it’s time to make explicit the unwritten rule that you only get to post one picture of your new tie (maybe two if it’s with some great new suit/shirt combo) on SF and that all subsequent pics go on your Instagram account.

Where has this unwritten rule ever been discussed (or even hinted at) before?

I am currently in the process of upgrading/redoing my business wardrobe. When it comes to ties I'm pretty basic. I like various solids and then I like stripes and that is it for my business wardrobe (I have a wider selection for non-business). Because I don't have a lot variety in patterns and design, I look for variety in other ways. For example, for my solid ties I have grenadine fina, grossa, twill, oxford weave etc. Looking at stripes, I'm considering adding some Irish Poplin and Mogador. I have never owned either and am wondering what are the practical differences between the two, and how they compare to 100 percent silk. I understand that Irish Poplin is silk and wool, and Mogador is cotton and silk, and I have read that both have a more matte appearance than 100 percent silk, which makes sense and I generally prefer a more matte appearance. What other differences are there? What else can be said about them? Do they tie as good a knot as a good 100 percent silk tie? Do certain colors work better with them?

That's 10 Hober grenadines. I've also got about 7 or 8 non-grenadine ties from Hober and a handful of pocket squares. I had never counted before now. Except for the odd superbly discounted Drakes tie, I only buy Hobers. The quality to price ratio is ahead of anything else I've bought and the customization is terrific. I wouldn't hesitate buying your first, but it's a slippery slope, so beware.

Wow that dotted one looks gorgeous, which material is it if you don't mind me asking? Was thinking of buying a few ties from here and just recently came across this thread/forum. Right now I am torn between the Piccola and Macclesfields.
