I picked up a 7-fold Hober from Cantabrigian. Despite my dislike of 7-folds, I was very impressed with the tie and proceeded to order a grenadine directly from the site for a Christmas present. On the receipt, I noticed SH was located in Thailand and my first reaction was "what the hell?"

Then I read the "About Us" on the website. Wonderful story, and knowing it I think I am likely to order even more from them.

I tried to post pictures here, but it clearly hasn't worked. Ho hum...

I'll try again another time, but since we're here, obviously everyone here can vouch for David's ties. I feel like that barely needs to be said anymore. However, if anyone was considering a bowtie, just bloody go for it. I absolutely adore mine. David worked with me really carefully to get it just right. One piece of advice I would say is that it really helped me, with measurements, to have an adjustable bowtie lying around to get my collar width just perfect. Of course you could do it other ways, but that seemed the easiest.

I take that back because they've somehow just appeared on my browser. I have to promise at this point that I'm not losing the plot...

David - I'm looking for a charcoal grenadine, how dark is the gray piccola grenadine #13? Anyone have a pic they can share?

Thanks David...I'm using a new MacBook Pro and the tie looks like a medium gray. It looks as though the darkest gray grenadine is the grossa charcoal gray #20? Now, I'm trying to figure out if I prefer the midnight blue or navy Piccola.

    Hi David,

I'm looking to get a tie like Bruce Wayne's here, in both colour and texture:

As I know little about ties, could you advise me on type of tie and fabric/colour? For me, the colour looks like Cadbury milk chocolate except a few shades darker.

    Thank you

    Gentlemen,

I am proposing to my girlfriend this Friday night. I am quite sure there will be no discrepancies on her end.

The reason for the post is as follows: I want to wear a Hober wedding tie on my wedding day. What does everyone suggest? I have a Hober navy garza grossa that I am in love with. No doubt the quality is great, I'm just not sure of a wedding tie pattern I should choose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    First, congratulations!

I will first assume that you will be wearing a single breasted suit of either solid navy or solid grey. Agreed? OK, onto the ties :)

First choice: Solid or patterned. If solid, it should be silver or grey for a navy suit, perhaps dark navy for a grey suit. You can pick grenadine (my choice for solid), reppe, satin, whatever.

Second choice: If pattern, it should be a small pattern that easily blends to solid at a distance. Classic wedding ties are black and white (or silver). The below are classic wedding patterns that would be great:

    http://www.samhober.com/plaid-silk-ties/english-plaid-9.html (very nice)

    http://www.samhober.com/pattern-silk-ties-en/pattern-silk-tie-21.html

I was also looking for a shepherd check similar to Kent Wang's (http://www.kentwang.com/ties/shepherds-check.html) but didn't see one--perhaps it's hidden somewhere? Shepherd Check is a great choice.

If wearing a tux (wedding will be after 6, right?), well then a basic solid black self-tie (no pre-tied!) satin bowtie.

To answer the suit questions: yes, I am wearing a dark grey suit. Groomsmen will be as well. Two-button, notch lapel. I am having Kent Wang make it for me. I have one of his MTM suits and it's amazing. I figured I couldn't go wrong with it.

Also, I think I want to go with a neat pattern. Something that looks unobtrusive from a distance, but up-close has a noticeable pattern to it. Much like Hober's #13 wedding tie.
