I first patronized Sam Hober almost three years ago when I needed a bowtie to wear to a wedding; it was a thrill to find them, because they were just the sort of enterprise that I feel most comfortable patronizing. Since then, I've placed occasional further orders and lately begun replacing my necktie 'collection', granted haphazardly over the years by my late grandmother, with something of higher quality. (My grandmother had a good eye for patterns and colors, but it's all department store stuff, so the quality tends to be wanting)

I've found myself becoming especially fond of the Mudmee Silks, which I was a little put off by at first, but became intriguing and are rather more fascinating and striking in person than they appear on screen. I was in fact prompted to contribute to this thread because an order came today that included a mudmee silk necktie that actually sort of stunned me when finally had a good look at it. It's described as, "Yellow Gold on Blue with a touch of Pink Mudmee Silk Tie #MUT-30," but in person has a wonderful shimmering quality that was a genuine surprise.

It's the one at the far right in the below image; the one immediately to its right came in the same order while the other two are from prior orders. (I'm a lousy photographer and this was done with an iPad, but it actually captured some of the shimmering effect that so struck me)

(Larger, most conspicuously photographically inferior, version here)

I want at least one more of these and there are a few pocket squares that I've been keenly eyeing.

Jeez people, way to rain on a new member's parade. He's showing appreciation for a talented craftsman who charges fairly for his work, so no need to make a post just to say you disagree with his tastes.

Unless you want to engage in a substantive discussion on fabric, the condescension is totally uncalled for IMO. Unless you think your opinion is so important that the whole world needs to know...

Lol. Cool story dudeski. Curious to see where this alleged condescension occurs.

Curious how you thought I was addressing you personally. Funny ain't it?

And to answer your question: Even though we have never met, for this Valentine's I present you the gift of self-awareness.
