Selling my Hober pin dot Macclesfield navy tie with red dots. It was a remake for another tie. It's a little narrow for my taste (just under 3.5 inches) and just collecting dust in my closet. Please make me an offer - I want someone to get some use out of this tie. I've never worn it, only tried it on.

That's a cool tie, how long is it?

As between the navy and black grenadines (I have both) if getting one I'd get navy (or midnight). I have it in garza grossa and it is the single most versatile tie I own.

In your spot I'd also get a pindot and a Mac neat, one in navy and the other in burgundy or dark red. (Then flip that for your second order. )

Finally, a nice stripe. So that's four for your first order, with a great pair for the next time you deal with David (Sam's his daughter).

As an alternative, you might also consider something with a silver or gray ground. Ditto a shade of brown like Bitter Chocolate. My grenadine in Bitter Chocalate quickly become a real workhorse for me.

I'll close with this. You will never, ever get better personal service from anyone in the world than from David.

I second the statement on David's customer service. I'm not sure if this is a good suggestion for a staple group of ties if you are just starting out your collection, but the mogador stripes are looking awfully attractive to me at the moment.

Hi guys, I'm basically starting my tie collection from scratch and was looking to pick up 3-4 of Sam's ties. What are the truly must have ties that he makes. I definitely want a navy and a black grenadine, not sure which one. I was also thinking a navy and white pin dot .

I have all of the above and love them, but if you are only going to get 3-4 for now, I wouldn't get a navy grenadine and a navy pin dot. I'd go with the black grenadine and, depending on your preference, a navy grenadine OR a navy pindot. For 3 and 4, I'd look into something burgundy or green in a more rustic fabric as it works with a lot of sport coats and also either a wedding tie or a silver / grey grenadine that can do wedding tie duty.
