David, have you ever considered doing knits? I know I'd buy some from you in a heart beat.
I have the dark purple/black and in fact I wore it last week to my daughters wedding. All the other men had matching ties that were purchased by the groom's family. I said I would rather wear my own tie. The grenadine matched pretty close to the others, but I guarantee I received many more compliments on my tie than did anyone else.
As to when to wear a grenadine, I think just about anytime is appropriate. You can wear it in a business setting with a suit without any problem or if you are wearing a patterned sportcoat, especially a heavier weave like a herringbone or a camelhair, it works great with those as well.
I've been floating his for a bit now, but I think the grossa weave will be better with most herringbones, whereas fina will be better with a sharkskin suit or something like that.
Just got my first grenadine... awesome. If someone could weave a cloud into a necktie, it would feel like this. I definitely will be going 4-fold for the next grenadines I order though... the 6-fold is pretty bulky.
Add me to that list, I would love a few Hober knit ties.
My first order consisted of a tie and three pocket squares. The fabrics are beautiful and the construction is on par or better than other high-end/bespoke brands. Their customer support is top notch as well and David made ordering a great experience. Based on all the comments in this thread it sounds like I'll have to order some 4-fold grenadine ties soon.
I like the white pocket square with the circles. Which one is that? I can't seem to find it on the site. Thanks.
White PS w/ circles
That's the one. The color is actually more of a cornflower blue than a white. Could just look a tad washed out in the photo there
Nice to see that you went with the flared tail. I have a 4-fold burgundy grossa which I love.
I asked David to produce a flared tail similar to my Kitons and it was executed beautifully.
I will certainly be ordering from David again in the very near future.
I agree with the knit tie suggestion above.
What purpose does the flare tail serve?
Yes...curious whether the flare tip is a style choice or whether it serves a purpose.
It is a style choice with no practical purpose.
