My advice is not to see this as an Either / Or decision but rather ask yourself "why am I only buying two ties this time?"

The minute it arrives you'll want another - better to admit your new addiction up front, order half a dozen and kid yourself you did it to save on postage.

    Just my 2 Bob

When do you guys wear the satins? They seem like a much dressier tie that the prints, grenadines, etc. Thanks.

I happily wear them with a suit monday to friday - they look particularly good with flannel in my opinion

Just got my latest batch of ties. Manton has a quote from 'Bonfire of the Vanities' in his book:

" His clothes were subdued and rich, as only these bastards knew how to do it."

The Macclesfield Challis tie exemplifies this ideal - it's a wool as soft as flannel but smooth as worsted. You will not find a better tie to match a winter suiting.

I ordered a beautiful grenadine as my first Hober tie, with express shipping as I was eager to get it. It travelled around the world, from Thailand to Scandinavia... I paid for customs and picked it up, just to lose the package on the bus, 100 feet from home... I regret I didn't open the package at work - then I would have at least known what it was like!! :embar:

I sympathize - I had a pair of shoes stolen from me last week before I had a chance to try them on... (though I did get to touch them enough to know I had to buy them again :( )

You know there is only one solution. Buy three more.

Here's a little series of "unboxing photos" from my first Hober purchase. Gorgeous ties and perfect dimples on my first try. Can't wait to get some more.

Everyone should own the two grenadines above. No excuses. I would add bitter chocolate for the ultimate trifecta
