Hello all. I recently purchased a few ties from Sam Hober. A burn orange cashmere, a green grenadine and an english pattern silk. I just wanted to give a public thank you to the Sam Hober company and to David. Their ties are magnificent and of top tier quality, but more importantly their service is second to none. David is an absolute pleasue to work with. He will patiently and without pressure answer any and all questions you have untill you are ready to make your decision. He treats a one timer with the same care as a corporate client who may buy a hundred ties at at a time.

If you are considering making a purchase from them go for it, you will thank me later.

    Here are the ties.

and thanks to spoo for recommening I give them a shot, this is the later part where I thank you. [IMG] Please feel free to post pics of your Hober ties as well, the more the more the merrier.

Could some people who have ordered bespoke, comment on why they did so and what measurements they gave ? I am thinking of ordering a couple, and was thunking of only supplying the length and width.

i did "bespoke" because hober makes it affordable and i wanted to give it a shot.

i measured the length and width of my ties that i like most and that fit the best. gave david the measurments and based on the knot he recommended for the material i was ordering he gave suggestions on maybe changing a thing or two. he also gave suggestions on the amounts of folds depending on the material. i stuck with the material designs he had on hand. no special requests for this non baller.

I order mine with a specified width at 3 or 4(cant remember which) places along the blade and a longer length. The bespoke also allows you to choose the construction of the tie.

My first two Hober "Grenadine Garza Fina Solid Ties" came yesterday. (One is the first blue from left in Bill's photo.) The other is a sage green to match a jacket that I'm wearing today. I am EXTREMELY pleased with these two ties. I ordered them in 59" length and with a 3.25" width. They are perfectly made and tie a spectacular knot. I'm planning on placing a two tie order with David every other month. [IMG] [IMG] BIG HINT: Order the fabric swatches in advance. Wish I had done that since the green I REALLY wanted turned out to be the Olive (a tad brighter). Oh well! Dark Blue: [IMG] Sage Green: [IMG]

Over the past year, I have ordered more than 50 ties from David. His ties are of outstanding quality and the value proposition is incredibly high. Over 25 of the ties are his grenadines, solids, stripes, and dots. They have become my go to tie. If you haven't ordered from David, do it.

I've also found the swatches to be very helpful in picking fabrics. The pictures can sometimes be quite different. Maybe this thread could work as a swatchsample-thread aswell. I have a couple swatch-sets i could try to take some pictures of.

The handrolled edges on those square are wonderful. Never seen anything like that before, Bill.

If I'm just about to get my first couple grenadine ties, would Kent Wang be a better place to start than these? $75 for the KWs on the site - how much do these run (I assume two different prices based on whether you buy stock or have them MTM). Thanks!

dont know about kent wang personally but i have heard very good things about his product and service.

hober has ties from $75, not many more than $90. small charge for more length or 6 folds. but very affordable. check out the site
