How long would you say it takes a pair to become comfortable?
Mine are all stretched out and im starting to get a little fading but they still are sooo stiff, I've heard eventually they become really comfortable but when is that?

Slim or tight jeans never really get comfortable you just get used to them. All of my pants, cotton or wool are far more comfortable than my jeans.

Yeah i know that, but when do they start to feel more like normal jeans and lose their rawness? after a few washes im guessing

They do so after just wearing them awhile. Soaking them does help yes but after wearing them awhile they're normal. The harder you wear them (lots of walking, bending, bike riding, etc...) the quicker they break in.

They feel like normal jeans after a wash or two. The stiffness becomes bearable around 1 to 3 months depending on how hard you wear them however.

So a couple days ago I called the NYC store with a sizing question about the new NS washed (dads jeans) version. My actual waist is 32"..
Q1: since they're washed and won't stretch as much, are they still vanity sized (explain v.s.)
A1: they won't stretch. they're true to size. order true to size.
Q2: So the 32 measures 32? (A: Yes) Will you check the measurement just to be sure?
A2: (hold for 5 minutes) They're true to size. Order 32.
Q3: So it's 16" across (not believing her)
A3: They're actually 16.5". But order tts. you're supposed to wear them like that.
Response: Okay thanks. (hang up and order 31)
The website says "By your choice of size, you may wear them tight, normal or baggy." Ordering my actual waist size is just going for a normal fit imo as they'll definately stretch at least an inch. She was pretty incompetent, but nowhere near as much as the guy who told a SF member to size up 1 (or was it 2?) on the raw NS. LOL

NC is skinnier. PS has a lower rise, roomier top block and as a result of that, more dramatic taper. NC is very skinny all the way through until the ankle, where the hem opening flares out a little to it's knee measurement.

I really wish I read this before I bought my PS. I hate the tapered look and see it everytime I wear my PS. Its not that bad but god damnit everywhere I looked before told me PS doesnt taper and NC is the cut that tapers.

whats up, I have been looking to buy the A.P.C rescue. I am a size 34 in mall denim. I don't want a skinny fit. I know the NS are very popular on this forum I was thinking those just might be to slim of a fit for my taste. So should I really go to a 32 or go 33 for a looser fit.

I've been rocking my Rescue's for about 2 years now (not daily wear but weekly wear or more), I even crashed my motorcycle while wearing them.

Anyways, I'm tired of the fit, they're too baggy/straight leg for me. I'm interested in switching it up to something more tapered that gets skinnier at the leg opening BUT I don't want a lower rise, I like the rise of the Rescue very much as I'm not a slim guy.

So I'm thinking of going with the New Standards which I read are more tapered at the leg but maintain a regular rise. Is this correct?

Also very important, I am a 34 in Rescue but I found they stretched a bit too much in the waist in the end (never washed, never soaked). Should I stick to a 34 NS or drop to a 33 NS since the legs will be different as well?

Finally, does ANYONE still do discounts on them? I got my Rescues for like $125 shipped back in the day but now its $155-165 + shipping :/ I know of the new APC rules but if anyone wants to PM me with a hint or two, thanks!

Even if someone can suggest another brand of jeans that may fit how I want them in the same price range? I really want to go with some black coated Slim Jims but Im pretty sure the rise will be too low for my wonderful gut lol

Actually i find that the new cures don't really taper all that much but they're just really skinny in the leg. My old size 30s were like 7.3" at the hem but really tight in the thigh. I dunno, i hated the NC cut. My petite standards fit miles better and are the perfect slim-skinny but not skinny-tight fit. Also, no jeans ever get "comfortable" imo. I'd always much rather be in shorts or roomy sweats but after awhile raw denim becomes like any other jean

I would say that NS in 33 would probably end up being right if your Rescues stretched out more than you would have liked But given that you ride a motorcycle, you should look into Iron Hearts; they're made by motorcycle enthusiasts and they would definitely be much more suiting, and protective, when riding a bike. They also have some pretty flattering cuts that would be up your alley.

    Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately I no longer have my motorcycle since I crashed it :/ Dunno if I'm gonna buy another...

I was also looking at Nudie Slim Jims in Dry Black Coated, hard decision since I never completed my Rescue's properly, I really wanna go back to APC.
