I measured my 28 NS again right after hot soak and high tumble dry.
Thigh seam to seam right underneath the crotch: 10.5
    Inseam: 32.5
Waist buttoned and laid flat: 15
    Leg opening: 7.5

^^ could you post a pic of you wearing it?

anyone know how much to size down for hipsters? i'm guessing the same as you would for ns or rescues: 2? or more because these sit on your hips

Looks like they shrank quite a bit in length after soak

    Hey Blee017,

Thanks for the post. Just have a few questions regarding your APC's. Was there a lot of fading in the indigo after the soak? Did the denim feel much softer when it came out of the dryer? Did the waist stretch back to it's normal unwashed size (which you measured to be 15.5") after you wore your jeans?

    Thanks.

I don't see a lot of fading after the soak. I had put only one week in them and I used woolite when I soak them.
They feel much softer after the hot soak and tumble dry. Before, they felt like 100% nylon, now they feel like well, denim. [IMG]
The waist and thigh stretched back after a day.

I will post a few pics soon.

OK. Here are the pics as I promised. Be aware that my 5'7"/150 lbs frame can't be farther from a model build - i.e., the fact that I look crappy in them doesn't mean you will, too. [IMG] I decided to experiment with hot soak and high tumble dry to get the most shrinkage (length-wise) before hemming my 28 NS after I noticed a crease formed by cuffing. [IMG] Here are the steps I took: 1. Soak them in hot water (not boiling hot but definitely hotter than warm) with woolite for two hours. 2. Rinse lightly (my SO wouldn't budge on that one. [IMG] ) again in hot water. 3. Tumble dry in high temperature for one hour. As I reported earlier, it shrank the length about 1.5" and waist and thigh about 0.5". Waist and thigh stretched back after a day's wear. I didn't notice any significant fading but it did make the denim a lot softer. The back: [IMG] The front: [IMG] Pics of me wearing my NS (again, I ain't no model build): [IMG] [IMG]

    Knee: 8.5"
    Hem: 7.5"
    Inseam: 33.25"
    Rise front: 9.5"
    Rise back: 12.5"

Ok, so I've pretty much decided on the 30's. I measure a true 31.5, two inches below the navel. I generally wear 32's in Diesel and Gap and they fit well. My only concern is that I'm fairly muscular at 5' 9 1/4" and 165lbs., pretty lean. I've measured my upper thighs and they are 21.75-22 at the largest point. Will I be ok? I don't want a painted on look; very bad IMHO!

30's should fit you fine. if they don't, just throw em on and do some intensive stretching ;-) the shit should stretch out good

Hey guys, I have a question about sizing since I'm debating if I should get a 27 or 28 new standards. I wear 28-29 Levi 514s fine and 28-29 in Nudie Slim Jims fine(tried a 30 at a store but definitely loose at the waist at the store). I really like the tight look but I'm afraid if I get a 27, it won't even fit me. What do you guys think?

You can fit both, depends on the look you're going for. One will be very tight at first, the other quite tight. I wear a 28 in NS but could wear a 27, wear a 29 in 514, don't remember about slim jim. So if I can fit in a size 27 chances you can too.

I'm interested in the New Cures but havent found any to try on. Should I get a 28? I'm a 29 in Nudies, 28 or 29 in the JR Cali's and 30 in the hoboken's.

Hey, I've only tried on New Standards but I think 27 could work for you if you want a tighter fit. Size 29 Slim Jims are very slim on me and the size 29 New Standards I tried on in a store we're very loose so I would need a size 28 or even 27 from what I've read here.
