Lines (queues to you nitpickers) are a recent invention here in South Korea, so I see self-important assholes shoving and pushing others all the time. This also happens a lot on the road. Basically, bigger and more expensive cars get the right of way, unless you're a quick-delivery old man on a moped, in which case you can run every red light you see and also go down sidewalks, because you're old and entitled to be an idiot.

On a somewhat related note, there was an interesting post over at The Truth About Cars that had a guy asking whether or not we can do without large ones. His post was followed by about three million vitriolic comments containing knee-jerk reactions like "GO BACK TO RUSSIA" and "SOCIALIST" and "THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY I CAN RIDE MY CANYONERO WHENEVER I WANT"

We might not have working queues here in SK, but at least we don't have pricks using the "It's a free country" excuse for everything. Here it's called "I'm older than you, and I am also a male"

The rest of us customers being typical Canadians, just stood there and watched quietly, and grumbled about it a bit after he left.

This is the best start to a story I've ever heard. You could write an off-broadway play starting with that line. BTW, how did you know he was a canadian?

Yeeears ago I was working as a personal trainer in an upscale neighborhood where this supposedly "world renound" back surgeon worked out/looked at himself in the mirror. One day I politely asked him to remove the plates from the machine he was working on as per gym rules and was told "if I removed my plates, you wouldnt have a job." A while later he asked for large towels as he wanted to take a swim and carried on like I have never seen a grown man behave when told they would be ready in 5 minutes. Not surprising really, what do you think becomes of these kids whose parents dote on them?

Generally goes hand-in-hand with big trucks (what they need said trucks for in the suburbs is beyond me). The same people used to try to cut people off and get ahead of them in the parking lot of my school. As I drove a pos car and didn't care about scratches or anything which they would have to pay for, I made it a point to block every one of them and proceed to let other people who were waiting out of their stalls. Sometimes they'd even get mad at me, which was very amusing since they're the ones who look like idiots

His accent, of course. (No, he didn't say "eh.")

It was comedy.

Look, I'm sorry, but I was in a hurry and I can't really be asked to stand around like a beggar.

In my experience there are only 2 types of people who carry on like this. Extremely rich people and extremely poor people. And they do it for the exact same reason. They're putting out more than half a nickel to pay for it.

i've been told by someone who actually does this that it's so nobody can park right beside him and accidentally scratch his car door with their car door when opening it. and of course, he drives a mustang...

the best solution to this problem is to key their door anyways
